The Atchafalaya Basin is an important natural habitat in Louisiana and hosts a major migration pathway for bird species. Utilizing resources from the University of Oklahoma, TNC Louisiana’s team recently deployed a radar system mounted atop a trailer and placed in a sugarcane field in the Atchafalaya Basin to monitor bird species and learn more about their presence and abundance in the south.
